The Long Island Center for Business & Professional Women is dedicated to advancing women in business, education and the professions and is pleased to announce that they will be awarding three scholarships to women attending a Long Island college/university.

This year we are offering one scholarship for each of the following categories: Academic Excellence, Community Service, and Self-Improvement.  Applicants for scholarships must meet the Scholarship Criteria for the category they choose and follow the directions on the Scholarship Application for submission to the Long Island Center for Business & Professional Women.

SCHOLARSHIP CRITERIA

ACADEMIC EXCELLENCE SCHOLARSHIP
This scholarship will be awarded to a student who has achieved a minimum grade point average of 95% for four consecutive years in high school. An essay of no more than 250 words is required that describes the student's goals for their future. In addition, a copy of their report cards for the four years must be submitted confirming the consistent high grade point average over all four years. A letter of recommendation from a teacher is also required.

COMMUNITY SERVICE SCHOLARSHIP
This scholarship will be awarded to the student who has been involved in a number of community service projects throughout their high school career. The student will be recognized for their contributions to the community and commitment to helping others. An essay of no more than 250 words is required describing their projects, how they became involved in the projects and what they gained from the experience. A letter of recommendation from a teacher as well as project manager is also required.

SELF-IMPROVEMENT SCHOLARSHIP
This scholarship will be awarded to a woman with a full-time position looking to advance her career, a woman re-entering the workforce, or a woman entering college for the first time. This woman will be recognized for her determination to pursue a college degree and excel in her job performance. An essay is required by the candidate that outlines why they should be the recipient of this scholarship award.
